Lomnitsa

 

a river in Ivano-Frankovsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, a right tributary of the Dnestr. The Lomnitsa is 122 km long and drains an area of 1,530 sq km. Rising in the Gorgany Mountains (Eastern Carpathians), it is a swift mountain river in its upper reaches. It is fed chiefly by rain and has an average discharge of 28 cu m per sec (maximum 850 cu m per sec). It freezes for 23 to 114 days annually. The river abounds in trout. The Pereginskoe Hydroelectric Power Plant is located on the river.
