LonWorks

A control network from Echelon Corporation, San Jose, CA (www.echelon.com) that is used in myriad applications, including factory automation, process control, building networks and vehicle networks. LonWorks provides services at all layers of the OSI model with its LonTalk protocol and Neuron chip. The Neuron is made up of three 8-bit processors and an operating system that supports LonTalk; however, LonTalk has become an ANSI standard that can run on any processor.

LonWorks allows up to 32,000 devices in a peer-to-peer configuration and also provides a complete set of network management functions. The LonWorks data link is a proprietary form of CSMA/CD over twisted pair, coax and fiber. Adapters allow connection to the Internet via Ethernet or dial-up modems.

M2 PRESSWIRE-August 28, 2019-: LonWorks Building Management Systems: Global Market Set to Rise at a CAGR of 17.2% During 2017-2026
He continues: "Today, most VRF systems can be interfaced to a smart home automation system through adapters or converters, which allows them to connect to various communication protocols, such as building management systems, Modbus, LonWorks, and so on.
IntesisBox is designed specifically for Air Conditioner integration and the protocols supported are KNX, BACnet, ASCII, EnOcean, Modbus, LonWorks, OPC, and Wifi.
In the data point type identification step, it is limited to filtering data point types listed under other BAS communication protocols (e.g., LonWorks, Modbus).
Not all smart devices are interoperable with each other, and even the use of open communications protocols like BACnet and Lonworks can't solve the whole problem because no single standard protocol exists to connect all devices.
The controllers communicate with the steering server via an existing energetic network with the use of LonWorks protocol and Power Line Communication (PLC) technology.
As a native BACnet system, this BEMS interfaces with LonWorks, Modbus and many other protocols to provide an integrated solution to building control needs.
Thus, standards such as LonWorks and BACnet are analyzed and detailed literature review is given.
At Hotblock Onboard, we believe that the [micro]Flux tracker sensors, with their capability to follow the evolution of the flow of thermal energy in a wide range of configurations, really do enable "a new eye on the environment"--with their ability to be readily integrated into wired networks, like CAN, [l.sup.2]C, FlexRay, LonWorks or TCP/IP, and wireless networks, like ZigBee, Smart Bluetooth or IEEE802.11, they open a new dimension of visibility of where our energy use goes and how systems evolve.
You ca n get an idea of the kinds of quantities that are commonly measured by reviewing Echelon's LonWorks list of 166 standard network variable types (SNVTs).
