The group gathered donations from descendants of Seattle's settlers to support the Duwamish Tribe's long-house project in an effort to try to right the wrongs done to them since Seattle's European settlers arrived in 1852.
With the new longhouse, the tribe says, they "reclaim space to revitalize [their] culture and preserve our living heritage." As they approach the long-house, visitors can see the river and the ancient longhouse sites.
