Lyman series

() A series of spectral lines of atomic hydrogen with wavelengths in the far ultraviolet and extreme ultraviolet regions of the spectrum (see hydrogen spectrum). The Lyman alpha (Ly α) line occurs at 121.6 nm and the Lyman limit at 91.2 nm. Ly α emission and absorption lines occur, for example, in the spectra of quasars.
