Magerö

 

(Magerøy), an island in the Barents Sea, the northernmost island off the Scandinavian Peninsula, in Norway. Area, 275 sq km. The island is a plateau (reaching 417 m in altitude), broken along the edges by deep fjords and covered with meadow tundra. Magero has fishing settlements. One of the most famous northern capes in Europe, North Cape (Nordkapp), is located on the island.
