M-type backward-wave oscillator[′em ‚tīp ′bak·wərd ¦wāv ′äs·ə‚lād·ər]
A backward-wave oscillator in which focusing and interaction are through magnetic fields, as in a magnetron. Also known as M-type carcinotron; type-M carcinotron.
