MacCurdy, George Grant

(1863–1947) anthropologist; born in Warrensburg, Mo. He earned a Ph.D. at Yale, where as professor of prehistoric archaeology and curator of anthropological collections at the Peabody Museum (1898–1931) he wrote widely on American and Old World prehistory and influenced developing academic and museum programs in the new discipline of anthropology.
