Magnetic Transfer

 

the distortion of information re-corded by any means; produced by the interaction of nearby recorded tracks with a signal track. As a result, the strong signals recorded on the other tracks are “copied” on the portions of the signal track where the signal is weaker or is absent.

The magnetic transfer effect is most apparent in magnetic recording, particularly the recording of loud speech, and de-pends to a large extent on the quality of the magnetic tape.
