Maroni

 

(Marowijne), a river in South America, forming the boundary between Surinam and French Guiana. Length, 680 km. It rises on the northern slopes of the Tumucumaque (Tumuc-Humac) mountain range in French Guiana. It empties into the Atlantic Ocean, forming an estuary. The river has rapids but is navigable in its lower course as far as the city of Apatou.

Italian Interior Minister Roberto Maroni sought to dampen the fallout Tuesday after a Libyan military vessel fired on a Sicilian fishing boat on Sunday, reported AL QUDS AL ARABI Tuesday.
In an interview for the Italian press, Maroni said many Roma are EU citizens, but do not comply with a single European requirement.
