Semule, Marta

 

Born Mar. 31 (Apr. 13), 1904, in what is now Gulbene Raion, Latvian SSR. Milkmaid at the Kopdar-bida kolkhoz in Gulbene Raion, Latvian SSR, during the years 1948–61. Twice Hero of Socialist Labor (1953, 1958). Member of the CPSU since 1953.

Each cow milked by Semule produced 5,500–6,000 kg of milk annually from 1953 to 1960. Semule was elected to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Latvia at the Fourteenth and the Seventeenth through Nineteenth Congresses of the CPL. She was a deputy to the fourth and fifth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the Latvian SSR. Semule has been awarded two orders of Lenin and various medals.
