(Machine Builder), a monthly mass-circulation journal of manufacturing technology. It is the organ of the Scientific Technical Society of the Machine-building Industry and has been published in Moscow since 1931, except for a suspension from 1941 through 1955. It publishes articles about the scientific organization of labor and administration, manufacturing economics, mechanization and automation of manufacturing processes in machine building, and advanced technology. Mashinostroitel’ also supplies information on new technologies and materials, accessories and tools, safety engineering, and repair and modernization of equipment, and it discusses the work of innovators in industry. Circulation, 44,000 (1974).

The SVD sniper rifle (Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova, Index 6V1) developed by the Izh Mash (Izhevskiy Mashinostroitel' niy Zavod--Main Soviet Arsenal in Izhevsk, Russia) designer Evgeniy Dragunov, was adopted for service with the Soviet Armed Forces in 1963 and remains in service to this day.
