Gutzeit test[′güt‚sīt ‚test]
A test for arsenic; zinc and dilute sulfuric acid are added to the substance, which is then covered with a filter paper moistened with mercuric chloride solution; a yellow spot forms on the paper if arsenic is in the sample.
