McClendon, Rose (b. Rosalie Virginia Scott)

(1885–1936) actress, singer; born in Greenville, N.C. In 1927 she was Serena in DuBose Hayward's play, Porgy. She helped plan the Black Federal Theatre Project troupe in 1935.
