McGivney, Michael (Joseph)

(1852–90) Catholic priest; born in Waterbury, Conn. As a parish priest in New Haven, Conn., he founded the Knights of Columbus (1882), a Catholic men's fraternal organization, serving as its national chaplain until his death.
