Measuring Unit

a measuring device designed to generate a signal of measurement data in a form convenient for transmission, conversion, and/or use in automatic control systems. Measuring units belong to the category of devices that encompasses measuring instruments and measuring transducers, amplifiers, and attachments. In some cases very simple mathematical operations are performed on the result of a measurement in a measuring unit: for example, electric meters determine the consumption of electric power as the integral with respect to time of the product of current intensity and voltage.
