Mechanical Seed Dispersal

 

the scattering of seeds by splitting fruits. Mechanical seed dispersal is characteristic of the Siberian pea tree, squirting cucumber, snapweed, and similar plants whose ripe fruits open suddenly (by cracking or bursting), discharging and scattering the seeds.
