Megye

 

an administrative-territorial unit in Hungary. The country is divided into 19 megyek, which consist of districts and cities. The local bodies of power in the megyek are the megye councils, elected by the councils of the cities and rural settlements for a term of four years. The megye council forms administrative organs (district boards) and directs the local councils of the cities and rural settlements.
