an active volcano on Kunashir Island (Kuril Islands) in Sakhalin Oblast, RSFSR. The extrusive dome, with an elevation of 890 m, is situated in a crumbling crater that is surrounded by a vast caldera. The lavas are andesitic and andesitic-basaltic. There are fumaroles and hot springs. At the foot of the volcano is Goriachii Pliazh (Hot Beach), where water vapor issues from the ground.
