Menzelinsk
a city and the administrative center of Menzelinsk Raion, Tatar ASSR. It is located on the Menzelia River (Kama basin), on a highway, 65 km east of the railroad station of Krugloe Pole (on a branch of the Ul’ianovsk-Ufa line) and 292 km east of Kazan. Population, 15,800 (1973). It has a fish processing plant, a sovkhoz-technicum, medical and pedagogical schools, and a theater. Menzelinsk became a city in 1781.
