Merology

 

in anthropology, the division of morphology that deals with variations in the sizes and shapes of human organs.

Merology is of great importance for research in anthropogenesis and racial studies, establishing the precise characteristics of modern human anatomical structures in contrast to extinct forms and establishing the significance of given features for differentiating human populations.
