Mesitol

 

2,4,6-trimethylphenol, a homologue of phenol, (CH3)3C6H2OH. A crystalline substance; melting point, 69°C. Mesitol undergoes sublimation at 220°C. It dissolves readily in ethyl alcohol and ether but is poorly soluble in water. Mesitol is present in coal tar.
