A superfamily of parasitic nematodes, characterized by a reduced or absent stoma capsule and an oral opening surrounded by six well-developed lips.

Microscopically, four transversal sections of the nematodes of the superfamily Metastrongyloidea, measuring about 200-300[micro]m in diameter, were observed in the lumen of the pulmonary artery (Figure 1B).
Morphologically these parasites are compatible with nematodes of the superfamily Metastrongyloidea, most probably Angiostrongylus.
The nematodes from the gibbon CNS were thus classified as members of the superfamily Metastrongyloidea.
Within the Metastrongyloidea, these include Parelaphostrongyhls spp.
