(Microsoft Data Link Control) A communications protocol for Windows clients that supports terminal connections to IBM mainframes and AS/400s. HP printers that are attached via the network using HP's JetDirect internal print servers may optionally use or even require this protocol. See SDLC, DLC and 3270 emulator.
