Godenko, Mikhail Semenovich


Born May 1, 1919, in Dnepropetrovsk. Soviet dancer and ballet master. People’s Artist of the USSR (1977).

Godenko studied at the Moscow Choreographic School from 1935 to 1939. From 1939 to 1947 he was a ballet soloist at musical comedy theaters in Kuibyshev and Novosibirsk. Since 1947 he has been a ballet master in song and dance ensembles in Chita, Irkutsk, Baku, and Arkhangel’sk. From 1955 to 1963 he was principal ballet master of the Northern Russian Folk Chorus, and since 1963 he has been artistic director and principal ballet master of the Krasnoiarsk Dance Ensemble of Siberia.
