an instrument for measuring linear dimensions or displacements, whose transforming element (mechanism) is an uneven-arm lever with elements mounted on knife-edge supports. In Soviet industry minimeters have been replaced by outside micrometer calipers and other more advanced measuring devices with metering heads.
