Established: 1958. Description:Protects and preserves Montana's remaining wildlands and naturally functioning ecosystems. MWA has seven active chapters across the state which offer educational programs and organize conservation efforts. MWA also has field organizers who work closely with the chapters and communities to develop grassroots support for important conservation issues and campaigns. Sponsors annual Wilderness Walks program to introduce hikers to the great diversity of wildlands in Montana. Members: 5,000. Dues: $20/year.
Publications: Wild Montana (quarterly); free to members and online.
