Moore, Eliakim Hastings

(1862–1932) mathematician; born in Marietta, Ohio. Founder and chairman of the University of Chicago mathematics department (1896–1931), he helped shape the university and was a noted "teacher of teachers." He is also known for work in integral equations and general analysis and as a key shaper of 20th-century mathematics.
