MiFi

A cellular-to-Wi-Fi converter from Inseego Corporation (formerly Novatel Wireless) that lets up to five Wi-Fi laptops in the vicinity connect to a cellular carrier's 3G or 4G network. Called the first "Intelligent Mobile Hotspot" by the company, the handheld MiFi obviates the need for a cellular modem in each Wi-Fi device. Verizon was the first carrier to offer MiFi monthly data plans. See cellular hotspot.
