Motor Transportation Service

 

(military), one of the rear logistic services of the Soviet armed forces. The service handles troop transportation, military cargoes, and evacuation of casualties and damaged equipment. It is responsible for the organization and implementation of operational, logistic, evacuation, and other military automotive transport services, and it handles personnel training for the motorized troops, military science work in the organization of automotive transport, and improvements in automotive equipment and cargo-handling equipment.
