Mufulira

(mo͞ofo͞olē`rä), city (1990 pop. 152,944), N central Zambia, on the border with the Congo. It is a copper-mining center, located in the CopperbeltCopperbelt,
mining region, N central Zambia, central Africa. A natural extension of the mineral-rich region of SE Congo, the Copperbelt is one of the richest sources of copper in the world. Cobalt, selenium, silver, and gold are also produced.

a city in Zambia in the Copperbelt Province. Population, including suburbs, 107,800 (1969). The city has a railroad station. Mufulira is an important center of the Copper-belt; copper is mined and electrolytic and blister copper are produced in the city. Bicycles are also produced.
