Muzaffarpur
(mo͝ozŭf`fəräpo͝or), city (1991 pop. 241,107), Bihar state, NE India, on the Burhi Gandak River. It is the district administrative center for a lychee- and mango-producing area and is the site of Bihar Univ. a city in northern India in Bihar State, situated on the Burhi Gandak River (Ganges basin). Population, 127,000 (1971). The city is a transportation junction and a trade and handicraft center.
