It has been suggested that NLR, which is an inflammatory marker playing a role in prognosis and development of PCa, is also an independent predictor of survival in newly developed treatment modalities such as radium 223.
The mean value and average rank of NLR were quite high in the appendicitis group compared to the other groups (p=0.001each).
To the best of our knowledge, no study that investigated thiol/disulfide homeostasis parameters and the relation between the NLR and UTI has been published by now.
In the present study, we studied NLR levels of the patients with malignant and benign thyroid nodules retrospectively and compared them with the NLR in healthy subjects.
Some studies have examined MPV and NLR together in various disease groups with an inflammatory pathogenesis, including Familial Mediterranean Fever (19), Behcet's disease (20), Henoch-Schonlein purpura (24), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (25), and systemic lupus erythematosus (26), but there have been no studies on the subject involving ARF, another inflammatory disease.
Groups were compared according to their age, gender, WBC, N and L counts, NLR, and RDW values.
Results: There was difference between the abortion groups and control groups in terms of complete blood count (CBC) inflammation markers, including WBC, PLT, neutrophil, lymphocyte, NLR, PLR, and MPV.
The NLR was calculated using the neutrophil and lymphocyte counts from the complete blood count (CBC) obtained before surgery, and the PLR was calculated using the platelet count divided by the lymphocyte count as in same CBC results.
Of these, 71 patient charts that included data on all study parameters were analyzed for complete blood count, lymphocyte, leukocyte, neutrophil and platelet counts, hemoglobin, NLR and PLR.
The vital findings, demographic characteristics, NLR calculated on admission and at 48 h (NLR48), and laboratory findings were recorded.
"The NLR and PLR ratios offer a new, powerful, affordable, simple, and readily available tool in the hands of clinicians to help them in the diagnosis of DVT," he said.
