HARRISBURG -- The Shawnee
National Forest will soon kick off a year of special programs to commemorate the 80th anniversary of being proclaimed a
national forest.
The infestations were primarily in the
national forests.
The NFF works together with the US Forest Service to identify
National Forests where severe wildfire, insects, disease, or other natural events have caused a significant loss of forest cover.
(MSS) partners with the
National Forest Foundation (NFF).
An additional 27 fires were reported on the Umpqua
National Forest and six on the Rogue River-Siskiyou
National Forest.
"Deer numbers have been steady in our
national forests, so maybe hunters who hunt there expect those numbers should be going up like the rest of the state, but they aren't because the habitat just isn't very good to begin with," he says.
