Size: 146 acres.
Established: Approved on July 16, 1790, except for 42 acres transferred later from other agencies. Transferred from Office of Public Buildings and Public Parks of the National Capital on August 10, 1933.
Location:In the area encompassed by Constitution and Pennsylvania avenues, NW on the north, First Street on the east, Independence and Maryland avenues on the south, and 14th Street on the west.
Activities:Shuttle tour.
Special Features:This landscaped park extending from the Capitol to the Washington Monument was envisioned as a formal park in L'Enfant's Plan for the city of Washington in 1791.
