Nefteiugansk

 

a city under okrug jurisdiction in the Khanty-Mansi National Okrug, Tiumen’ Oblast, RSFSR. Located on a channel of the Ob’ River, the Iuganskaia Ob’, 50 km west of Surgut. Population, 31,400 (1973). Nefteiugansk was incorporated in 1967 on the site of the village of Ust’-Balyk. It is the processing center for the Ust’-Balyk and other oil fields. Oil and gas are extracted.
