Established: Authorized on October 31, 1994.
Location:A temporary visitor center is located in the French Quarter at 916 N. Peters, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Facilities:Work is underway to develop permanent facilities at historic Armstrong Park bordering North Rampart St., Orleans Ave., North Villere, and St. Phillip. The complex, located at the northern edge of the French Quarter, will be renovated into a visitor center with exhibits, park headquarters, performance venue, education classrooms, and a resource center.
Activities:Interpretive activities include musical performances, ranger-led demonstrations and talks, lectures, films, and exhibits on a wide variety of jazz-related topics. A walking tour of significant historical jazz sites in the French Quarter is held a few times per month (by reservation).
Special Features:Park interprets jazz as it has evolved in New Orleans and assists a range of organizations involved with jazz and its history.

It is now part of New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park.
This is precisely what the National Park Service wants visitors to experience at New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park. In one of its last acts before adjourning an otherwise lackluster session last year, the 103rd Congress created the historical park to foster preservation, education, and interpretation of jazz as it evolved in New Orleans.
NPCA is also pleased that Congress enacted legislation to add 3,640 acres to Saguaro National Monument in Arzona and redesignate it as a national park and created the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park in Louisiana.
