Newton Peak

 

a mountain on the island of West Spitsbergen, a Norwegian possession. Newton Peak is the highest point in the Spitsbergen archipelago (1,717 m). It is composed of crystalline rock. First explored by E. Jäderin in 1899, it was named in honor of I. Newton.
