Neyveli

 

a city in India, located in the state of Tamil Nadu. Population, 55,400 (1971). The city grew up in the 1960’s as lignite mining commenced and a steam power plant was constructed with aid from the USSR. A complex of coal chemistry enterprises provides such products as nitrogenous fertilizers and carbonized briquettes. A state corporation has charge of the city’s development.

A unit of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (Neyveli Lignite) (BSE: 513683), an India-based lignite mining company, is aiming to raise INR35bn through a syndicated loan, Dow Jones has reported citing a person familiar with the arrangement.
