Noncrossability

 

the impossibility of crossbreeding, usually observed in interspecific or more distant hybridization. Non-hybridization can sometimes be overcome by means of special methods (vegetative grafting, the mediatory method, artificial insemination). Noncrossability is important in the development of a species.
