North Sea Canal

 

a 27-km navigable canal in the Netherlands, linking Amsterdam with the outer harbor of IJmuiden on the North Sea. Built between 1865 and 1876, the canal has been rebuilt and now accommodates ships with displacements of up to 90,000 tons.
