Rouyn-Noranda
Rouyn-Noranda (ro͞oˈĭn nərănˈdə, Fr. ro͞oăNˈ), city (1991 pop. 26,448), extreme SW Que., Canada. Created (1986) by an amalgamation of Rouyn and Noranda, it is the center of a gold-, copper-, and zinc-mining region. Noranda is the site of a large smelter.

Noranda
a city in the southwestern part of Quebec Province, Canada. Population, 10,700 (1971); railroad station. Noranda is one of Canada’s most important centers for nonferrous metallurgy. Its copper-smelting plant turns out approximately 250,000 tons of blister copper annually.
