Nowa Ruda

 

a city in southwestern Poland, in Walbrzych Województwo. Population, 19,300 (1972). It is an industrial center in the Lower Silesian Coal Basin. Coking coal and refractory slate are mined nearby, and the city also has a silk-weaving factory.
