Amanus

 

(Nur-Dağ, Gâvur-Dağ, Nur-Dağlari), mountain range in southern Turkey, extending for approximately 100 km along the eastern shore of the Gulf of Iskenderun. The range is composed of limestone, sandstone, and volcanic rocks, and it has elevations up to 2,262 m. On the slopes are tough-leaved forests and shrubs.
