The ambassador handed over a letter from the Foreign Minister of Pakistan to the
OIC Secretary General.
This remarkable development displays the
OIC's commitment and resolve towards the Kashmir dispute and the recognition of the rightful struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination, the statement asserted.
Made available to the media on Saturday, the statement quoted Buhari as saying: 'The robust interventions of the various
OIC Institutions and principally the Islamic Development Bank Group, have been effective in such key sectors as trade and investment, agriculture, rural development and food security, science, technology and innovation, poverty alleviation as well as women and youth empowerment.''
The meeting also saw Pakistan being elected vice chair of the bureau of
OIC Summit from Asia.
Pakistan is fully alive to reservations of Turkey and other regional members with reference to
OIC reforms and values their view point.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi arrived in Saudi Arabia to attend Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (
OIC) foreign ministers' meeting on Wednesday (today) where he will represent Pakistan at the 4th Summit of
OIC Council of Foreign Minister's meeting.
The
OIC has consistently supported Pakistan's principled stand on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through its resolutions, communiques and declarations, the statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan wants
OIC to be recognized as a proactive and effective organization that can get its laws enforced.
The Foreign Minister will represent #Pakistan in the meeting of Foreign Ministers' Council of
OIC to be held in #Makkah today.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will represent Pakistan at the
OIC Summit titled 'Makkah Summit: Together for the Future', hosted by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, which aims at developing a unified stance of Muslim leaders on rising tension in the Gulf.
In a statement the Foreign Office said: 'In a resolution adopted by the 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), the
OIC member states reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains the core dispute between Pakistan and India and its resolution is indispensable for the dream for peace in South Asia.'
