Okha
a city under oblast jurisdiction and administrative center of Okha Raion, Sakhalin Oblast, RSFSR, located on northeastern Sakhalin Island. Linked by railroad to the port of Moskal’vo. Population, 31,000 (1974). Okha is an important center for Sakhalin’s petroleum industry, with oil piped from the city to Komsomol’sk-na-Amure. It has a machine shop, a wood-products plant, and plants producing reinforced-concrete structural members and walling materials. In addition, the city has a food industry. Educational institutions include a petroleum technicum.
