Optical Amplification Coefficient

 

the inverse of the distance at which light traveling through an active medium is amplified by a factor of e (natural optical amplification coefficient) or 10 (decimal optical amplification coefficient) as a result of stimulated emission by the medium. The coefficient is measured in m–1 or cm–1.
