Size: 488 acres.
Established: Proclaimed on July 12, 1909; transferred from Forest Service on August 10, 1933.
Location:20 miles southeast of Cave Junction, Oregon, on OR 46. Park is 50 miles south of Grants Pass, Oregon, and 76 miles northeast of Crescent City, California, via US 199.
Facilities:Picnic area, rest rooms (é), lodging, restaurant/snacks, self-guided tour/trail.
Activities:Hiking, snowshoeing, ranger-led programs, guided cave tours (late March through November).
Special Features:Groundwater dissolving marble bedrock formed these cave passages and intricate flowstone formations. Above ground, the monument encompasses a remnant old-growth coniferous forest. It harbors a remarkable array of plants and a Douglas-fir tree with the widest known girth in Oregon.
