Ostrovets

 

an urban-type settlement and the administrative center of Ostrovets Raion, Grodno Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. Situated 5 km from the Gudogai railroad station on the Minsk-Vilnius line, Ostrovets has the lumber and food-processing industries.

Belarus has adopted a radioactive waste management strategy for its first nuclear power plant under construction near Ostrovets. The country's council of ministers adopted a resolution outlining the strategy on 2 June.
