PCI-SIG

(PCI-SIG, Beaverton, OR, www.pci-sig.com) An industry consortium founded in 1992 that owns and maintains all PCI technologies. It also sponsors workshops and technical conferences. Standing for PCI Special Interest Group, more than 900 member companies are involved. Following is a comparison of PCI bus speeds. See PICMG, PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express.

PCI Express 5.0 is set to be finished in 2019 - if the PCI-SIG can keep to that schedule we could see motherboards popping up as early as 2020 or 2021 depending on how the technology rollout intersects with AMD and Intel's own refresh plans.
PCI-SIG has strong backing with more than 800 members, which could help build momentum around the technology, Yanes said.
