Paleostomi

 

(Paliastomi), a shallow relict lake in the Georgian SSR, near the Black Sea, at the mouth of the Rioni River. The lake is 18.2 sq km in area. Its shores are low and swampy. Lake Paleostomi is partially fed by seepage water from the Rioni River, by groundwater, and in certain periods by seawater. It has an outlet to the sea. There is fishing on the lake.
